Money is still a source of contention in the marriage relationship. According to the survey, the number of couples fight over money, is increasing. These financial problems triggered the couple to keep a secret. Not a few married couples who do not open about the money and keep shopping habits.

Financial services companies, American Express conducted research involving 2020 respondents. Research shows, there is increase in the number of couples fight over money. Around 61 percent of couples claimed to talk about the household finances, tails quarrel. This number increased significantly compared to last year’s survey, only 41 percent of couples who claim to often quarrel over money.

Due to the boredom always fight when they discuss family finances, couples tend to take shortcuts. Many couples are secretly shopping for a husband or wife without being noticed. Other behaviors that couples do is move the money into his secret account, or hide credit card.

The results of this survey indicate a number of conditions. Possibilities that arise among them, there is a high financial stress in the household. Other conditions, the consumer, may have more money to spend. Then came more and more choices about how to spend it. Because the choice of more and more, the couple then feels the need to discuss finances together. But the opposite happened, the couple often quarreled because of money without finding financial solutions.

“I think that this condition does not indicate that the couple stress with the situation. This condition occurs because the couple began to have to reorganize their finances and post-crisis financial recession,” said Leah Gerstner, vice president of public affairs of American Express.

Whatever the reason couples fight because of money, the emerging trend is the change in behavior. One in five women admitted hiding purchases from your partner. If feel the need to inform couples, women tend to sort out the price. Women will only notify the groceries, if the price is below the standard specified price. If they are shopping more expensive than the standard price, the husband would never know it.

The couple will never know this secret stuff, because according to the survey, 13 percent of respondents admitted to hiding the secret goods are neatly. The couple could never discover this secret stuff.
